I
love the psalms. Many are written by David as his honest, transparent
expressions of frustrations and fears. However, every time David writes,
he concludes with some characteristic of God which overwhelms him and
keeps him trusting, even in the hard times.
Many of our friends have asked us to write the story of God’s work in
our lives this past year. Like David, we have desired to be frank about
the fears and struggles in our recent life and death situations. It has
been our privilege to experience severe hardship, because as we became
desperate for God in a minute to minute way, we had to rely completely
on who HE is.
God gave to us wonderful, competent medical staff (most of them, at
least!) We are so very grateful for their wisdom and compassion. God
amazed us with the generosity of many friends and family who found
incredible ways to encourage us and meet our needs. We thank every one
of you!
However, our passion in telling our story is for you to know about the
One who is greater than all these. We want simply to encourage the
reader who is facing difficulty (and we all do) to lift up your chin and
LOOK! Our prayer is that you will look to GOD as your hope, your
strength, your companion. Even when there are no explanations and all is
crashing down around you, HE remains your shield and He will never leave
or forsake you.
Daily God directed us to look at His person and asked us to depend on
his character. We pray that you will be challenged to do the same. Each
chapter presents a scripture that reveals truth about God, and those
truths were and still are our foundation for life.
We are in love with each other more deeply than ever before. And our
love relationship with God has become so critical to our daily lives,
that we never want to go back to what we thought was “great” before.
Please pray that God will draw you to himself, as you to become
desperate to lean on who HE is, despite the difficulties of life.
1 O LORD, how many are my foes!
How many rise up against me!
2 Many are saying of me,
"God will not deliver him."
3 But you are a shield around me,
O LORD;
you bestow glory on me you lift
up my head!
